If you see someone skipping down the street sporting a vintage jean and gold hoops, the odds are strong it’s Olivia Rodriguez Smith. Olivia seldom arrives anywhere without her speaker and a playlist ranging from Maggie Rogers to Beyoncé to Bon Iver to Charli xcx. As a born and raised Texan, Olivia credits herself with being able to spot a Mission tortilla from a mile away. For this daughter of a proud South Texan woman, it’ll have to be grandma’s homemade flour tortillas or bust (though the HEB flour tortillas are a close second). On most weekends, Olivia helps the most special day of people’s lives run as smoothly as possible. Her easeful nature, bright presence, and organizational skills make her job as venue manager at a Texas hill-country wedding venue the perfect fit - plus she makes for a great extra guest on the dance floor.
my artistic mission
As an artist, I aim to create honest work that makes human beings feel seen. I believe in cultivating safe spaces for collaboration, inviting an open dialogue, and creating without judgment. I approach my work with curiosity and compassion, hoping to tell the most authentic story. I believe movement can communicate stories & experiences often difficult to articulate with words. Usually, the body knows what it feels before the brain can impede and filter, resulting in the most authentic and honest communication of a feeling or experience.
